Prandin is a prescription medicine for diabetics to help gain control of blood sugar levels after eating. Prandin is a Secretagogue

Secretagogues are drugs that help the body release more insulin. Unlike some other secretagogues, however, Prandin is taken before meals to help control glucose levels that normally spike after the meal is finished.

Prandin is used in combination with other medications as part of an overall diabetes treatment plan. Only your doctor will be able to decide if Prandin should be part of your diabetes treatment plan. Your doctor will guide you on the appropriate use and dosage of Prandin in combinations with any other medications you might be taking.


Insurance Coverage for Prandin

Prandin is a diabetes medicine available only through a prescription from the doctor treating you for diabetes. As with all your diabetes supplies and medicines, your insurance plan will usually cover a certain portion of the overall cost. It is important to check with your insurance to determine in advance how much out of pocket expense your diabetes supplies and medicines will cost you. Most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, have a co-payment that is usually around 20%. The co-pay of a drug will vary by plan and by drug.
