People with Type 2 Diabetes usually do not make enough insulin to control their blood sugars. Starlix is used to control glucose spikes after meals. Starlix is designed to cause a release of a burst of insulin at the beginning of meals to help reduce the glucose spikes that usually follow a meal.
Starlix and Your Doctor
Starlix is a diabetes drug that can only be taken with a prescription from a medical professional. It is important to notify your doctor of all the mediations you are currently taking prior to starting any new drug therapy such as Starlix.
Your doctor may prescribe Starlix as a mono-therapy or in combination with other medications. Never take Starlix in combination with other medications without prior consent from your doctor.
Insurance Coverage for Starlix
Starlix is a diabetes medicine available only through a prescription from the doctor treating you for diabetes. As with all your diabetes supplies and medicines, your insurance plan will usually cover a certain portion of the overall cost.
